As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to elderly patients/residents. Under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), you will assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitor vital signs, provide emotional support, and ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.

This job opportunity involves providing one-on-one care to patients at their residences. The location details will be shared after you successfully pass the background and compliance check.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist elderly patients/residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility as per individual care plans.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiration rate.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging them in activities to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, including maintaining hygiene and infection control practices.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare team members to communicate any changes in the resident's condition, concerns, or observations.
  • Document patient care activities, observations, and vital signs accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) or other documentation systems.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and protocols related to patient care, safety, and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
  • Current certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) in the state of DC, MD or VA
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Compassion, empathy, patience, and a strong desire to work with elderly populations.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in patient care.
